The Passport to Nature organized by the Observatory is a listing of outdoor public events hosted by local groups that give you opportunities to celebrate, appreciate and protect the fascinating natural places in and around the South Shore of the County.
The County’s South Shore is designated a globally significant Important Bird and Biodiversity Area (IBA). This 90- square kilometre area of land and offshore waters witnesses the migration of millions of birds and thousands of Monarch butterflies each year.
It’s home to unique communities of plants and animals. Night skies blaze with stars. PEPtBO has a mandate to monitor and report on bird migration along the South Shore and act as official caretaker of the South Shore IBA.
